Saint Patrick's Home is happy to share with you some special moments from our Foundation Day celebration. We were blessed to have Father Michael Kissane , O.Carm. as our celebrant. Father gave a wonderful homily regarding Mother Angeline and our early days. The Sisters shared how great it was to have the Carmelite Friars as part of our many celebrations at Saint Patrick's Home.  Some of our staff was also able to participate in the celebration.

In the afternoon, the staff enjoyed an ice cream social including chocolate covered strawberries. We also had a display of our Foundress, Mother Angeline Teresa and her Six Companions , in front of St Patrick’s Home. It told the story of how the Congregation has grown. Our residents participated in Foundation Day Trivia. Although our celebrations were a little different this year because of the Corona Virus restrictions, Mother Angeline would be happy to see so many happy faces!

Although we were hampered in what we could do for our Residents during our Covid 19 restrictions, we had a very beautiful day and experience. We had a nice Mass with an organist and singing - only the Sisters and the organist- with the Residents watching from their room televisions. Father Jonah, O.P, had a beautiful homily on our Foundation Day and how appropriate it was to celebrate it on the Feast of St. Gregory who founded so many Monasteries.

We started our weekly Eucharistic Procession and Blessing on a unit today.  Many of the Residents sat in their doorways  with a few who joined the procession around their areas.  A couple of the Residents cried and thanked Father for it has been a long time since being actually present at Benediction. Just about all of the Staff lined up too for a blessing (Catholic and Non Catholic) Jim Murtagh, a Resident on the unit, followed the procession and sang the hymns and recited the Divine Praises.  It was a very moving experience.  We plan to do another unit next week, although this was special as it was the first time since CoVid broke,  and it was on Foundation Day. The signs we posted on the unit talked about it being Foundation Day too.
