Vocation Story

Sister Paul Anthony, O.Carm.

In the Garden of Carmel, what nourishes you in the religious life?

I met the Carmelite Sisters while in High School and the first thing that attracted me was their ministry of caring for the Aged and Infirm. This work has always been a source of happiness in my life! This, along with the fact that we live and work in a community where we support and truly care for each other has always been a help to me. As difficult as it was leaving my home and family, I have embraced a new family as a Carmelite! The deepening of my spiritual life is ongoing and would take many pages to desribe! Taking ample time to engage in my relationship with God has developed through these years. In summary, I had the privilege of meeting an elderly cloistered Carmelite nun in my engagement in ministry years ago. I asked her for some words of advice and direction. Without hesitation, she responded, "Always remember, and tell everyone, God loves you so much, He hardly knows what to do about it!"
