Senior Sisters Program

Monday, May 20th, 2013

Saint Teresa’s Motherhouse hosted Senior Sisters Program May 15-18, 2013 and was attended by fourteen of our Sisters from our different local Convents.  The theme of this year’s gathering was “Celebrating Life” with conferences given by Brother Andre Mathieu, C.P.  The Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Malcolm Cornell, C.P, who was invited for the three days event.  The Senior Sisters program is an annual gathering of interested Carmelite Sisters for spiritual and personal renewal.  It involves formal conferences given by an invited speaker, celebration of the liturgy, relaxation by ways of rest, outing, Community socials and free time.  Our Senior Sisters often find this time away to be both enjoyable and spiritually nourishing. All Saints Academy Visits Avila

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013

Twelve students and five accompanying faculty members came to visit St. Teresa’s Motherhouse on May 13, Feast of Our Lady of Fatima.  This visit happens every year and is organized by our vocation director, Sr. Maria Therese, and the Formation team.

After a warm welcome and greetings, Sr. Lois Wetzel, O.Carm., gave an introductory presentation on the life and work of Venerable Mary Angeline Teresa McCrory, Foundress of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm.  The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Ronald Menty from the Diocese of Albany who came as part of the group.  Following Mass, the students offered roses to St. Therese as they presented their individual petitions.  The students and guests were joined by the Avila Sisters for lunch.  Sr. Matthew James, O.Carm. gave a tour of the Heritage Room, Venerable Mary Angeline’s chapel and visited her gravesite.  They also took time browsing the gift shop.   A lively open discussion with Fr. Menty and Sisters was scheduled followed by snack and quiz time.  The visit ended at mid-afternoon.

We thank All Saints Academy for a wonderful visit and we look forward to the next one in 2014!
