Sr. Sharon Rose celebrates her Birthday

On July 12, 2019, our new novice Sr. Sharon Rose Carmel, celebrated her birthday with some help from her fellow novices.

Celebrating Our Lady of La Vang

On July 13, 2019, Sr. Sharon Rose, Sr. Dolores Carmel, Sr. Joanne Therese, Sr. Helena and three visiting religious Sisters, participated in a Vietnamese celebration in honor of Our Lady of La Vang. The event was held at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, NY and was attended by an estimated 2,500 people.  This 4th annual Marian Day celebration had for its theme "Following Mary in Saying "Yes" to God." This year's gathering, as in previous years, offered as the structure of the day's event, Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration, three conferences by distinguished members of the Vietnamese diocesan clergy, Rosary Procession, on the ground Confessions, vocation tables, youth centered conferences by our Carmelite Brothers and Solemn Mass celebrated by Most Rev. Dao Duc Dinh, Bishop of Xuan Loc Diocese, Vietnam, and assisted by Very Rev. Mario Esposito, O.Carm, Prior Provincial of  the Saint Elias Province.  It was a very enjoyable day with warm and friendly people and free-food for religious and clergy!

Walking the Rip Van Winkle Bridge

At the end of the day, the group went the Hudson Valley Sky Walk at the Rip Van Winkle bridge and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

Vigil of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

On July 15, the Novices and Sr. Helena of Mary attended the vigil celebration of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel held at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, NY.  Father Timothy Ennis, O.Carm., novice master of Saint Elias Province gave two conferences on Our Lady with Brother Dominic playing a guitar meditation in between the conferences.  The Liturgy of the Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Justin Cinnante, O.Carm. assisted by Very Rev. Mario Esposito, Prior Provincial of Saint Elias Province.  Attendees shared some muffins and cookies with coffee and juice as well as some friendly conversations common to any Carmelite event! It was a beautiful spiritual preparation for the coming great day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel's feast on July 16th!
