Christian Concerts Blasts!

Article Story / Photos/ Videos Contributed by Sister Christopher Jude, O.Carm.

Sister Deirdre and I attended a Chris Tomlin Concert ""Worship Night in America" on April 12, 2018 at Times Union Center in Albany, NY.  The center was packed with everyone on their feet singing along with Chris Tomlin.  After the concert, we met a group of young ladies who told us they were "nuns" in their school play, "The Sound of Music." One young lady was so excited that her T-shirt- "Addicted to Jesus"- showed up in this picture.

You can feel the energy as you watch the Chris Tomlin performance on the videos below:

On April 23, 2018, Sisters Maria Agnes, Mary of Jesus and I had the opportunity to see Hillsong United perform LIVE in Boston, MA.  This Grammy Award Christian Praise and Worship group was inspirational and of course "loud"!  Everyone was up off their seats- hands raised- praising "Jesus our King."

On April 26, 2018, Sister Catherine and Sister Fidelis Therese were happy to join the audience at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center at a Christian music concert of Casting Crowns.

R.I.P Sister M. Serafino of the Assumption, O.Carm.

Sister M. Serafino of the Assumption, O.Carm. passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2018 in the 68th year of her religious life.

Gloria Louise Besozzi was born on April 3, 1928 in Wainwright, OH to Serafino and Mary Assunta (Lupi) Besozzi. Entering the Congregation on August 14, 1950, Sister Serafino made her first profession on April 15, 1952, and professed final vows on the Feast of the Assumption, August 15, 1957.  Her missions included Mary Manning Walsh Home (1962-1970), St. Rita’s Home (1970-1979), St. Margaret Hall (1979-1985), Garvey Manor (1985-1990), St. Patrick’s Home (1990-1997), and St. Teresa’s Motherhouse (1997-2014).  On August 26, 2014 she returned to her “Home-State” of Ohio and was admitted as a resident to Mother Angeline McCrory Manor, where she would be in close proximity to her family.  Sister Serafino received excellent care from the staff of Mother Angeline McCrory Manor and was lovingly looked after by our Sisters.

In her ministry to the aged and infirm, Sister Serafino was appointed the Superior and/or the Administrator of the majority of the Homes where she was assigned, and did her best to perform the duties that were asked of her.  A talented musician who loved to sing, Sister Serafino played the organ and piano beautifully, directed the Community Choir, and taught the Sisters many hymns and songs. She also had a competitive streak that was obvious to anyone with whom she played cards!

As she enters the courts of heaven, may Sister M. Serafino of the Assumption be surrounded by the choirs of archangels, angels, cherubim and seraphim as she joins her voice to theirs in singing Gloria in Excelsis Deo!
